The disposable Core® Sampler is a device for collecting samples of VOCs in soil.



  • The Core Sampler collects, stores and delivers soil samples, all in one device.

Representative and consistent soil samples in just a few steps:

  1. Hold the extraction body and push the plunger rod down.
  2. Press the locking lever on the T-handle and place the core body on the open end of the T-handle.
  3. Using the T-handle, push the sampler into the ground until the extraction body is completely full.
  4. Remove the soil sample and wipe excess soil from the outside of the extraction body.
  5. Cap the sampler and remove it from the T-handle by pressing the locking lever.
  6. Lock the sampler by turning the extended plunger rod counterclockwise.
  7. Label the sample and return to the zippered bag. Place on ice.

  • General questions about samples
    • Does the En Core® Sampler work on packed clay?

    The En Core® excels at sampling tight soils. A cutting edge was designed on the front of the body. Push and roll the sample in the clay to take a core sample.

    • Does the En Core® Sampler work in sand?

    The En Core® cannot be used to sample sand in the normal way as dry sand will not form a cohesive plug. Pull the plunger back to form an O-ring seal at the rear end of the body and scoop or push sand into the sampler. When the lid is put on, the sand will be kept in a free space free state.

    • Does the En Core® Sampler work on rocks?

    The En Core® Sampler does not work with rocks. Rocks are a difficult matrix to sample no matter which approach is used. We recommend that you have some available methanol if you need to sample rocks. You may need to break up the rocks to get a small enough sample.

    • Does the En Core® Sampler work with downhole sampling methods?

    Currently, the En Core® does not work with downhole sampling. You should bring the earth core or split spoon to the surface and quickly take a sample.

    • How do I know if the En Core® Sampler is full?

    There is a viewing hole in the handle. The O-ring on the plunger will show up in the viewing hole when the earth has pushed the plunger all the way back. However, there is another check you must do on each sample. The plunger can only be rotated when it is fully pushed towards the back of the body. If you can turn the plunger, you have ensured that the soil has filled the sample and that the back O-rings have been sealed

    • How do I know if the cap is on correctly?

    When putting the cap on, it is important that you turn it while pushing it. The lid is properly sealed when the two locking arms are fully and symmetrically on the ridge of the body. This means that the cap is sealed.

    • What is the status with the wait times?

    Currently, the waiting time is 48 hours. This means that the soil must be placed in a preservative before the end of the 48-hour period. Some regulatory agencies have approved extended wait times. Check with your regulatory agency.
