The solution enables the treatment of domestic wastewater in locations without connection to a sewer network, adapting to the specific conditions of the site.
To ensure efficient treatment of domestic wastewater from a dwelling located within a Protected Natural Area (PEIN), Envirotecnics supplied and installed a compact total oxidation wastewater treatment plant equipped with submerged fixed-bed technology.
The specific characteristics of the location required a solution capable of achieving a high level of wastewater treatment and ensuring excellent treated water quality before discharge into the natural environment.
For this reason, a fixed-bed biological treatment technology was selected. It provides high operational stability and strong performance in the removal of organic matter, even under variations in flow rate and pollutant load. This system promotes the growth of biomass attached to the support media and helps maintain a stable biological treatment process despite fluctuations in influent load and flow.
Submerged fixed-bed wastewater treatment is particularly suitable for isolated dwellings, second homes, rural accommodation and certain tourist facilities with variable occupancy.
The installation has a treatment capacity of up to 8 population equivalents (PE), a parameter used to size wastewater treatment systems according to the expected pollutant load. The system was sized to meet the property’s requirements and ensure compliance with the environmental requirements associated with a particularly sensitive setting.
One of the key advantages of the project was the speed of installation. Thanks to the compact, prefabricated design of the unit, no complex civil works were required, allowing supply and installation to be completed in a single working day.
