Sodium permanganate
Sodium permanganate
Reference:
I0079REMOXL
Oxidizing agent used in ISCO processes in soils and groundwater that uses sodium permanganate as an active component. Sodium permanganate is a reagent with a wide range of action, particularly effective in treating highly persistent compounds such as chlorinated compounds (PCE, TCE). It does not generate gaseous phase degradation byproducts.

Ask for informationSodium permanganate is a widely used oxidizing reagent in environmental, industrial, and laboratory applications, mainly employed for the oxidation of pollutants, disinfection, and water treatments. Its oxidizing action makes it effective against organic matter, microorganisms, and certain dissolved metals, being a key compound in remediation and water quality control processes.
In the environmental field, sodium permanganate is used in wastewater treatments, contaminated soil remediation, oxidation of organic compounds, and disinfection of sampling equipment. Its controlled decomposition helps minimize unwanted byproducts, generating safe and effective results.
This reagent is widely used by laboratories, environmental technicians, and industries, always following appropriate safety and handling protocols, ensuring efficient and safe use.
Sodium permanganate is a reagent for in situ chemical oxidation processes (ISCO). It has been specifically manufactured for environmental applications such as soil and groundwater remediation. This product can be used to degrade a variety of contaminants, including chlorinated solvents, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, phenolic compounds, organopesticides, and substituted aromatics. Sodium permanganate has a low metal concentration and a pH from 5.0 to 8.0. The product is supplied with a certificate of analysis to document the pH and trace metals present.

Sodium permanganate is one of the most versatile oxidants known. Depending on the requirements of each substrate, NaMnO4 naturally oxidizes organic and inorganic compounds under acidic, alkaline, or neutral pH conditions, in aqueous solutions or in the absence of water. This remarkable flexibility of the oxidant is due to its ability to act through different reaction pathways and the low activation enthalpy it exhibits, on the order of 21,000 to 42,000 J mol-1 (5-10 kcal mol-1), factors that combine with the high redox potentials in any of the reduction states of the permanganate ion. The specificity of oxidations with sodium permanganate can be enhanced by maintaining strict pH control, which can be achieved, for example, by adding a buffer such as magnesium sulfate (MgSO4).
