The dissolved oxygen meter is a portable instrument designed for the precise measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO) in liquids, ideal for environmental, hydrogeological, aquaculture, and industrial applications. Its robust and portable design allows for quick and reliable measurements directly in the field, ensuring stable and repeatable results.

Thanks to its high-sensitivity electrochemical or optical sensors, the Hanna meter provides accurate data on oxygen saturation and concentration, which is essential for water quality control, treatment processes, and ecological studies.

  • Dissolved oxygen is indicated in parts per million (ppm = mg/L) or in % saturation.
  • The temperature range is indicated in degrees Celsius from 0 to 50°C with a resolution of 0.1°C.
  • Both measurements in ppm and the percentage reflect the values in water oxygen solubility and membrane permeability, as well as the effect of temperature.

Polarographic measurement system :

  • the oxygen sensor and the probe use polarographic sensor technology based on the Ross and Clark polarographic measurement method.
  • The probe consists of a plastic cathode and a silver anode in an electrolytic solution maintained on the electrode surfaces by a polymer membrane.
  • An external voltage applied across the system produces a current proportional to the concentration of dissolved oxygen.

Replaceable membrane caps :

  • the pre-stressed polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes use a threaded cap design that can be quickly changed by simply refilling with the HI7041 electrolyte filling solution and screwing on the DO probe.

Automatic calibration :

  • calibration can be performed at one or two points up to 100% and/or 0% saturation. 100% saturation is done in air while 0% is done with the HI7040 zero oxygen two-component solution.

Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) :

  • the Good Laboratory Practices feature allows the user to retrieve calibration information, including date, time, and calibration points.

Automatic temperature compensation :

  • all readings are automatically compensated for temperature variations with high accuracy by a linearized thermistor temperature sensor with a stainless steel cover.

Altitude compensation :

  • enables altitude compensation up to 4000 meters with a resolution of 100 meters.

Salinity compensation :

  • salinity compensation is adjustable from 0 to 80 g/L (ppt) with a resolution of 1 g/L for DO measurement in brackish and seawater.

Automatic endpoint :

  • features an "auto endpoint" mode where, when selected, the reading freezes on the display once a stable measurement is obtained. The automatic endpoint function allows consistency between multiple users to ensure accuracy.

Backlit LCD display :

  • the HI9146 dissolved oxygen meter has a backlit display for easy viewing of readings in low-light conditions.

Battery Error Prevention System (BEPS) :

  • the battery error prevention system detects when the batteries become too weak to ensure measurements.
  • The backlight function automatically turns off when the batteries are low, and a clear indication is shown to warn the user of this condition.

  • Oxygen monitoring in surface and groundwater
  • Control in water treatment plants
  • Environmental and water quality studies
  • Aquaculture and fish farming
  • Research and industrial control
