Envirotecnics Global Service has participated alongside Environmental Resources Management Iberia (ERM Iberia) by providing injection equipment and supplying oxidizing agents for the treatment of hydrocarbons in the groundwater of a service station using In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) technique.
Site Description
At the service station under study, hydrocarbon recovery work was carried out around the containment area including groundwater pumping and vacuum-induced air extraction, recovering 4,500 kg of petroleum hydrocarbons. The hydrocarbon present at the service station is considered a secondary affectation with a residual free phase contributing a fraction of the hydrocarbon to the groundwater through dissolution and migration, reaching wells immediately downstream, thus the application of oxidizing agents at the affected points is a technically and economically viable alternative.
